Why it's important to select shoes carefully during pregnancy:
|
|
I. |
Women's feet on average grow 1/2 size larger with each pregnancy due to:
a. The hormone in pregnant woman that relaxes ligaments in the pelvis in preparation for delivery also affects the ligaments in the foot. This causes the the forefoot to spread.
b. The increased weight can cause the foot to broaden. Solution: wear shoes that are made of soft leather that will give as your foot swells and broadens. Shoes should also have shock absorption to ease the pain in ankles and knees. Shoes should be lightweight to prevent fatigue of muscles that already have to work overtime. In the third trimester, try wearing styles without laces or buckles since it is difficult to bend over a big, beautiful belly.
Try our: Robbie, Coco, Cairo, and Lola for dressy occasions.

II. |
Pregnant women become unbalanced due to carrying the heavy weight of their unborn baby in front and are at risk for falling.
r>
Solution: wear shoes with rubber soles to increase traction and wear flats or low heels with a stable walking surface.
| |
|
III. |
Pregnant women tend to get low back pain due to the weight being carried around in front. The back has to go into lordosis (arched) to counterbalance.
Solution: avoid high heels that will only pitch weight more forward and make the back hurt more.

Specifically important for pregnant women:
The shoes are made from lightweight materials to reduce leg fatigue.
The shoes are cushioned with Poron, which is a shock absorbing material that is superior to the commonly used foam found in other shoes.
Each shoe offers support in the sole and in the heel area to prevent pronation (when the feet lean inward due to the extra weight.
Heels are specially designed to provide stability.
A full thickness of leather is used in the shoe interior to absorb perspiration.
The shoes have additional volume to accommodate swelling and provide more room in the toes to prevent hammertoes and corns.
